Here are some bits and pieces from my illustration project on circuses. All my work had been been in my portfolio then was being marked but I've got it back now. I thought I'd share some of the stuff I do at college with you over the next week or so. These were made with coloured paper. foam stamps, paint and white ink.
They're lots of fun to draw. I wish I'd discovered this love of lace collars and ruffs before I visited the V&A, though.
Or who knows, maybe you are.
Which, as it turns out isn't pronouced like it's made of dead blind insectivorous mammals.
For some reason I want to make little monsters out of old clothes. Actually if any one is feeling very generous and/or bored and wants to send some old clothes my way that would be hugely appricated. Send me a message and we can work something out.

Red felt tip pen and a lovley old stamp in my moleskine. I'll add a title to this post later if I can think of one; but right now I'm going to go see if there's something kind of programme on that involves turning ordinary people into models.
I bought a pack of 20 colour fine liners today and I absolutely love them.
I made some little 3D tree house and boat houses (still working on balloon houses). I drew them on brown card and assemballed them using a complicated series of tabs and slots, and a little hot glue when I things got tricky.
Yes, I said 'upcycling'. It is a word. And this is so easy.
Start with a clean tin and an A4 piece of card (thin paper won't really work as well).
Wrap the card snuggly around the tin and mark were it meets, leaving an inch of overlap.
Mark the height of the tin on the card and then cut the resulting rectangle as neatly as you can. Test that it fits the tin neatly (it should sit inbetween the metal bands on the top and bottom) and trim if you need to.
Paint, draw, collage, splatter or scribble to your heart's desire. I think stripes of different coloured paper would look good, or if you've used patterned paper you don't need to decorate it at all (though it's fun too). I've just done a simple line drawing with some brown ink.
Here there should be a picture of me attaching the card to the tin, but taking a picture using your chin isn't that easy. Anyway, put a strip of double sided sticky tape, a line of glue dots or some pva glue along one of the ends of the rectangle. Double sided sticky tape or glue dots work best because there's no waiting for it to dry. Wrap the card firmly around the tin and stick the overlappy bit to the other bit of card. Presuming you are nothing like me and haven't stuck the paper on upside down and are now peeling it off, you can put a pen in your completed pot and admire your handiwork.

Here are some more houses at sea. This time on white paper with a mixture of blue and brown ink on a brush. I do have anyother couple of flying houses drawings that I'll post when they're finished.
